Richard:

My name is Richard Watson. I’m the President of Air Serv of Coastal Carolina. We service residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning equipment across the coast of North Carolina. Ryan at Core Matter started us on this program that he developed, which really helped us out. We were able to hire more qualified people and to really write a good job description in order to get them to apply. He is really taking it to the next level, which allowed us to really focus on running the business rather than the business running us.

Kym:

My name is Kym Farmer. I’m responsible for HR Management and am the Training Coordinator here at Aire Serv. Some of my major challenges have been hiring quality people that want to stick around. You know, with the covid mess that took place for two years, it’s really been a struggle to maintain you know, just a basic workforce.

Richard:

Core Matters came to us via our service software that we use in the heating and air conditioning business. I got an email from that software company saying that Core Matters would give a brief webinar. I attended that webinar and was super impressed by all the tips and tricks that he used in the industry to help locate and retain employees.

Kym:

I came into this thinking it was gonna be just a  boring little webinar that I was going to have to go to every week. After literally the first 10 minutes, they had me very engaged. They asked you questions, you can’t get away with it. It really makes you think. They were very engaging. This was very one-on-one, and I’m very much appreciative.

Richard:

So, the hiring process that we had in place before Core Matters was kind of shoot from the hip and, and throw money at Indeed and other hiring websites to see what would come in. Ryan was able to guide us, develop us, and help lead us in the right direction, which allowed us to really promote our company and our business to prospective employees. He taught us about the ATS system, which really allowed us to track employees and follow employees. Without that process, the applicants that would come in would fall by the wayside, so it may have been a good applicant that we didn’t need at that time. So the ATS system allowed us to hold that applicant and revisit that applicant, at a future date.

Kym:

I always assumed that hiring people was just a matter of listing the job, a couple of interviews, making an offer, then onboard. I did not realize that there was a very intricate process. Now, I feel much more confident than I did five months ago.

Richard:

Core Matters has done an awesome job of walking us through how. Teaching us how to separate the process of hiring and putting the right people in place, at the right time. Going forward we are very confident that we’ll be able to find and hire awesome people to help us run a great business.

Kym:

They helped us carve out and implement our own individual core values as a company, not something that was generic, something that we really believe in. We have had such a big response in the amount of candidates that have come through, the quality of the candidates that have come through. I can’t even express what a difference it was, post Core Matters.

Richard:

You know, we spend all this money on hiring and sponsoring jobs, and we sometimes don’t pay attention to what’s under our feet. We created an awesome referral program for our employees so they’re incentivized, and they wanna work with good people, so they’re only going to bring in good people. You know, Ryan really opened our eyes in order to help that process and really have our employees focus on you know, creating a great business.

Kym:

I definitely recommend Core Matters. It’s really made me feel like a unique individual that is just killing it, just nailing it in the HR side of the business. I definitely feel much more educated in my role. I feel a lot more confident. I feel like I’m bringing quality candidates to management that they want to hire.
