Over time, he and his wife refined them down to three: Day One Mentality, Customer Obsession, and 360° Improvement. These values became not just posters on a wall, but an operating system. When someone slips up, he doesn’t attack the action. He ties feedback back to the value.
That shift lets the team self-correct. If someone comes late, you don’t call them a failure. You ask: “Is that Day One Mentality?” It reframes the response toward the standard, not the person.
The Dark Side of “Exiting the Battlefield”
